Update: more on Lutin’s astrological views here.
Some tidbits from a Q & A with famous astrologer Michael Lutin courtesy of The Courier-Journal (Louisville, KY):
Q. I’ve heard this is supposed to be the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, which is a time of peace, acceptance and love. Why does it seem like nothing’s getting better?
People always think things are going to be better. They’re never better; they’re just different. We’re moving from the Age of Pisces into the Age of Aquarius, but it’s neurotic to think things are going to get better.
I have my birth certificate here. Can you do my chart super quick or tell me something I don’t know about myself?
You know everything about yourself. The client always knows more about him or herself than the astrologer ever could.
If I gave you my birth date and time, could you give me a fast read?
I would give you that. I couldn’t do anything real for you.
When did you start getting interested in astrology?
I was a teenager. … I didn’t really believe it. I studied it for years and … eventually, after studying chart after chart after chart and seeing the correlations come and be so accurate, I had to either accept it or stop doing it.
What’s your sign?
I never tell. It’s not good for my practice. I try to be neutral in my practice, and people have prejudices against certain signs, so that’s why. People have all kinds of crazy notions, based upon their childhood, mostly. They’ll say, “Oh, I hate Geminis,” and I’ll say, “Is your mother a Gemini?” “Yeah, how’d you know?”
(ed: very badly kept secret at that. Hint, hint – famous for being cheap, nit picking, and according to Forbes Magazine attributed to the highest number of billionaires.)
If Lutin is a serious astrologer, how can he write a Sun Sign column?
Precisely my point, Lynn!
Speaking of which, are you aware that he has been invited twice now to Liz Greene’s CPA in London to teach Sun Sign astrology? That is right, Sun Sign columnists have become so pervasive that it has become “acceptable” to teach that it is as valid to use a solar chart (Sun on the Ascendent) as it is use a timed natal chart.
Hey, Virgo is famous for being cheap? I didn’t know that! That makes sense, yo.
Lutin’s astro-data is no secret, not by a long shot.

Michael Lutin was not born in 1940.
Are you saying that Mikey is 67 years old?
I’m 50 and last time I looked, he’s three years younger than me. Duh.
As far as being a “serious” astrologer. Look at his work on the moons nodes, and his essay at the Vanity Fair Website in January 2007.
The accuracy of information here is highly suspect, IMHO.
Michael Lutin has led a CPA seminar specifically on the significance of the Sun in the astrological chart, just as others have lectured on the Moon, Mars and Mercury. It was not in order to teach “sun sign astrology”, although he did discuss the solar chart which is useful in the absence of birth times and to give further perspective to the natal chart. He has also lectured on the astrologer’s role as a ‘counsellor/therapist’.
And I agree with Tootie – there is no way Michael was born in 1940, nor do I believe for a minute he is a Virgo with Scorpio rising as this birth data indicates!! This is a man with fire prominent in his chart. I’d put money on it.
Actually it does make sense. As soon as I looked at his picture I felt he had some Scorpio in him and possible some Virgo. He is quite senisible actually and has a down-to-earth common sense. Goo wit which is common with Mercury Mars conj (yes it is there) like many commedians. Mercury Neptune makes him say things in a way where people dont know if he is praising them or slapping them! Venus in Leo is the limelight element, Virgo the critical faculty, Scropio rising the cutting remards and somewhat doomsday scenarios and Moon in Sagittarius the philosophical interes in astrology. Moon Neptune square is the empathy probably from sadness in childhood. Must be a good advisor. Has to be careful this year till next for heart and bladder area problems though )Saturn squaring his natal Mars).
must be a typo in lutin’s birthdata upthread. should be

this data is common knowledge in nyc and is passed around pretty freely.
so he has a virgo moon, and venus in cancer. if he did have a sag moon, his life would be an open book, but it sure is not! lutin is one of the most secretive people i ever met. quite fearful too. tries hard to control what people think and say about him.
libra north node in the 12th is interesting. wonder what sunshines says about that. with the virgo stellium is a beseigement of the sun by mars and neptune.
another astrologer with scorp rising that tried to keep their birth data secret for a long time is liz greene. she has a virgo sun too. and moon in sag. even though she has scorpio asc, her life has become an open book. more so than lutin at least. she has made a lot of money writing and publishing books.
furthermore, lutin does not have any psychology credentials. doesn’t even have a m.a. if he is promoting himself as a therapist he is breaking ny state law.

highly interesting debate about Michael’s data…his myspace page list him as 50 / scorpio…his facebook page says June 28,…
we all have a right to privacy, but astrologers usually make their chart public….has anyoen ever tried to actually ASK the man himself????
My gut feeling is he’s Capricorn rising.
